From April 11th-15th, two ALLIES members had the opportunity to attend the Naval Academy Foreign Affairs Conference hosted at the Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. The theme of the conference this year was Women and Security, which was a topic of particular interests to the students who attended. The conference boasted a wide array of speakers, from the CEO of Tupperware to the US Ambassador to the United Nations Samantha Power. The students came away from the week with perspectives from both the public and private sectors about how best to address gender inequality in issues of national and international policy.

The students also participated in four, 90 minute round-table sessions made up of Naval Academy Midshipmen, students from other universities, as well as faculty and experienced guests. The more specific and probing questions were addressed in these discussions, and were expertly moderated by Midshipmen. These groups also especially contributed to the purpose of ALLIES in that they provided an environment in which civilians and military members could forge professional and personal bonds.
