Michael Swaine is giving the address. He is a senior fellow at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace and one of the most prominent American analysts in Chinese security studies. Formerly a senior policy analyst at the RAND Corporation, Swaine is a specialist in Chinese defense and foreign policy, U.S.-China relations, and East Asian international relations.

The Oslo Scholars program offers undergraduates with a demonstrated interest in human rights and international politics an opportunity to attend the Oslo Freedom Forum in Norway and to spend their summer interning with some of the world’s leading human rights defenders and activists. This year we have opportunities to work with Srdja Popovic at CANVAS in Serbia, Jamila Raquib at the Albert Einstein Institute in Boston, Svitlana Zalishchuk in Ukrainian Parliament in Kiev, and many more.
