Javier Macaya is Spanish citizen with a twenty five-year investment banking career in New York City. Javier currently is a London-based private equity investor and a Director and advisor to Companies in Europe and the Americas.
Until May 2016, Javier was a Managing Director at Goldman Sachs in New York, where he was responsible for Goldman’s Investment Banking Services for Latin America. Prior to Goldman Sachs, Javier founded and was the CEO of Athelera, LLC, a New York, Bogota and London based M&A boutique investment bank, which he established in January 2000 and ran for fourteen years. During his career, Javier has represented clients in transactions valued over $20 billion, acting as financial advisor to many leading companies, entrepreneurs and family groups throughout the Americas and Europe with interests in the media, financial services, technology, basic industry, consumer products, telecommunications, technology, and retail. Prior to founding Athelera, Javier held investment banking positions at JP Morgan, JD Wolfensohn and Violy, Byorum & Partners.
Javier was educated in Spain, England, Switzerland, and the United States. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in Quantitative Economics from Tufts University in 1991. He is a native of Spain and has four children.
