Samuel James '08

United States - New York, NY

Samuel James is from Cincinnati, Ohio. He holds a degree in political science from Tufts University and studied photography at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. Since 2007, he has been working on an extensive independent documentary engagement with Nigeria, Africa’s most populous and largest oil-producing nation. He is the inaugural recipient of the Alexandra Boulat Award for Photojournalism, with which he continued exploring the realm of Area Boys in Lagos. He has also completed assignments for publications such as The New York Times, Time, and Harper's magazines. While at Tufts, he was selected into the inaugural group of Institute for Global Leadership Synaptic Scholars and was a member of the photojournalism and human rights group [EXPOSURE]. He is co-founder of the Institute's Program on Narrative and Documentary Practice

Ashish Malhotra '11

Ashish Malhotra is an Associate Producer for Al Jazeera English's award winning and Emmy-award nominated talk show, The Stream. The Stream focuses on stories that are ongoing, global, and sourced from social media and acts as an aggregator of online sources and discussion, seeking out unheard voices, new perspectives from people on the ground and untold angles related to the most compelling stories of the day. The Stream shares its platform with artists, celebrities and intellectuals who are an integral part of the social media community.

Katherine Conway '13

United States - Washington, D.C.

Katherine (A07, F13) received her MALD from the Fletcher School, during which time she worked with Search for Common Ground in Kigali focusing on monitoring and evaluation of peacebuilding programs. She is currently on the Adolescent Girls Team at the United Nations Foundation based in Washington, D.C. As an undergraduate she was involved in EPIIC, [EXPOSURE], and BUILD: Nicaragua.
