Following Dr. Williams’ talk, you’ll hear from two IGL students—Atrey Bhargava, A21, and Jacob Rubel, A21—currently studying at Oxford for the year. Join us for a discussion on their experiences in IGL’s programs, including Education for Public Inquiry and International Citizenship (EPIIC), the New Initiative for Middle East Peace (NIMEP), and Tufts International Development.
Dr. Williams will also share plans for the IGL in 2019–20, including the EPIIC Program on "Preventing Genocide and Mass Atrocities.”

Dr. Abi Williams has more than 30 years of experience in leadership roles in think tanks, the United Nations, and academia. He spent four years as the President of The Hague Institute for Global Justice. Dr. Williams served at the United States Institute of Peace as Senior Vice President of the Center for Conflict Management from 2010 to 2012, leading its work in major conflict zones such as Afghanistan, Iraq and Libya, and as Vice President of the Center for Conflict Analysis and Prevention from 2008 to 2009. He was Director of Strategic Planning for United Nations Secretaries-General Ban Ki-Moon and Kofi Annan. He gained valuable field operational experience, serving with the United Nations from 1994 to 2000 in peacekeeping operations in the Balkans and Haiti, in senior political and humanitarian roles.
