IGl Student, Meera Rohera, has been working with a group of Indian space professionals to set up India's first think tank dedicated to space. The think tank is based in Bangalore with satellite presence in New Delhi, Berlin, Sendai, and San Francisco. S2 aspires to be global, collaborative and inclusive.

S2 embraces the multi-dimensional nature of human space endeavors. The S2 lens includes, among others, the geopolitical, scientific, economic, legal, safety, security, sustainability issues related to outer space activities. It embraces the multi-dimensional nature of human space endeavors comprising not just science, technology, policy, law – but also - history, anthropology, economics, environment, sociology, psychology, contemporary culture, art, architecture, design, archaeology and more.

The think tank name is an homage to the founder of India’s space program: Dr. Vikram Sarabhai, a physicist, a visionary, a renaissance man who believed that our cosmic commons can be used for the welfare of humankind and the biosphere of which we are a fractional part. We deliberately chose to steer clear of traditional 20th century names for think tanks and opted for a modern one that will resonate across generations.

Spaceport SARABHAI is conceived as a launchpad for ideas for a shared future. It is a metaphor for an imagined place in outer space, where thought-leaders-n-practitioners touchdown to exchange ideas, points of view, and visions for the future.
