As Latin American countries grapple with the COVID-19 crisis, a second hidden pandemic is on the rise: domestic abuse and gender-based violence. Emergency calls regarding this problem have increased by 60% in Mexico and by 25% in Argentina. Imposed residential groups, gender-based pandemic policies, and lack of data have aggravated the repercussions of sexism in various countries.
