Immigrant Detention in the U.S.

While the news cycle periodically includes some of the most egregious violations occurring in detention, basic, sustained human rights violations occur continuously in these facilities without eliciting widespread public outcry.

Period. End of Sentence. Film Screening & Discussion

On Thursday, March 5th, join Tufts Amnesty International, Period at Tufts, WHEN Alliance, International Club, Project SHARE, and Leonard Carmichael Society to watch an Oscar-winning short documentary, "Period. End of Sentence." The event will start at 7:30 p.m. in Barnum 104, and will be followed by a guided discussion about the global effects of period stigma. Hope to see you there!

Amnesty International is the world’s largest human rights organization. Tufts Amnesty holds weekly meetings to discuss issues ranging on everything from gun violence to the illegal use of electroshock therapy in Massachusetts. We also host a variety of fun events on campus to promote awareness of international human rights abuses to the Tufts community.

David Art's field is comparative politics, with a regional focus on Europe. Professor Art's research interests include extremist political parties and movements, the politics of history and memory, and comparative historical analysis in the social sciences.
