The U.S. signed a historic peace deal with the Taliban on February 29, nearly two decades after the U.S. invaded Afghanistan in 2001 with the goal of defeating the Taliban. However, recent U.S. airstrikes on March 4 and the history of the Taliban's role in Afghanistan leave many people wondering how feasible it is for the U.S. to maintain this deal. Join ALLIES this Wednesday, March 11, as we discuss what the future of Afghanistan will look like in the coming months and years.

On Thursday, March 5th, join Tufts Amnesty International, Period at Tufts, WHEN Alliance, International Club, Project SHARE, and Leonard Carmichael Society to watch an Oscar-winning short documentary, "Period. Join Tisch College for a conversation with author, speaker, and advocate for criminal justice reform and victims of sex trafficking, Cyntoia Brown-Long. Born to a mother battling addiction, Cyntoia Brown-Long had a difficult childhood marked by physical and emotional trauma. At 16 years old, she became a victim of sex trafficking and was later arrested for killing a man who solicited her for sex. She was tried as an adult despite her age and was sentenced to life in prison without parole for 51 years.
