Serving as ambassador for nearly three years, Harris has been a key player in helping shape US foreign policy in the Korean Peninsula. Prior to his ambassadorship, he served as the commander of the US Pacific Fleet and later the US Indo-Pacific Command where he has been critical of Chinese aggression in the South China Sea.
