This summer I had the pleasure of working in the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Policy’s (OUSD-P) Middle East Division from 18 May to 28 August.
There are over 1 billion people living in poverty, according to 2011 World Bank estimates. Western intentions to address this figure range from post-colonial shame to altruism, and manifest in direct contributions or through multilateral organizations.
