Students in the OSF workshop took a break from their work late on Sunday to visit the Great Rift Valley overlook and watch the sunset.
The students in the OSF workshop on Palliative Care and Access to Pain Medications in Kenya had spent the last three days working on patient and caregiver stories in Nairobi, from Kibera to California to Lenana.
The group's last formal meeting was on Friday, when Dr. Joseph Mwangi, Director of Non-Communicable Diseases in the Ministry of Health, visited the guest house where the students are staying for a frank discussion of the challenges facing Kenya's health care system and shared the country's just released strategic plan for the next 15 years on how to meet the health needs of the people.
The next week will be spent finishing the patient stories and beginning to gather those of a range of other perspectives, from the leading activists in the push for palliative care and pain medications to hospice caregivers to community health workers to doctors and nurses.
