As soon as my plane got close enough to touching the ground of San Juan, Puerto Rico, it was clear that the area was still dealing with the aftermath of Hurricane Maria that hit the island in September 2017. Even now, in June 2018, bright blue tarps still covered rooftops.

Atrey and I completed our summer research project in Pakistan. The title of the project, "Can Blood and Water Flow Together?", describes the politics of the water in power relations in the Indus Basin between Pakistan and India, two nuclear-powered states in a state of perpetual hostility.

This August, I traveled to Ecuador with Tufts International Development (TID) to continue our KoomBook digital library project. This trip, we are moving the center in Coaque, a coastal town affected by the 2016 earthquake, and implementing two new programs in Minas and Jatumpamba.
