Soon after arriving in Italy for my summer internship, a populist government came to power. Two deeply different parties, the Five Star Movement and the League, won the majority in the recent election and, defying all expectations, formed a coalition to rule the country.
I started my internship at the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) in Geneva, Switzerland on May 16, 2018. UNCTAD is a United Nations agency, dedicated to supporting developing countries to access the benefits of a globalized economy more fairly and effectively.
It takes approximately 140 seconds to get from the bottom to the top of the escalators at the Rosslyn Metro Station. Every morning, I take those escalators on my way to work.
Last semester, I attended the IGL Migration Series where I was introduced to Mary Troung, the Executive Director of the Massachusetts Office for Refugees and Immigrants (ORI). The mission of ORI is to integrate refugees and immigrants into the fabric of the Commonwealth.
